It doesn’t matter where you’re fishing, googans exist everywhere. A reminder, what is a real googan – someone that doesn’t want to put the work in to find fish. So I’m out ledge fishing and I understand a lot of fishing holes are community spots but this guy pulled his boat up right next to mine and we even crossed fishing lines!!?! I don’t own the lake but I don’t think I would’ve done this to someone?

On a more fun subject we had a blast summer fishing using our electronics and noticing some bait fish to locate and dial in the bass. One thing I recommend is trying to fish during low light periods such as morning or sunset – it truly changes the way the fish behave and you will catch more fish.

Fishing for bass is never the same even if you go to the same lake. I’ve found on this new adventure that these fish can deceive you a bit especially since I don’t have a history of patterns, techniques, and tunnel vision on what parts of the lake are best at certain times. I’m starting to figure it out though and one thing I’ve found is during the summer these bass will deceive you and mix with other fish species in large schools giving the impression that what you’re seeing on your Lowrance isn’t bass….but it actually is, just not totally bass.

Should I be banned from fishing? I’m getting spoiled by mega bags bass fishing in Florida. We almost caught 40lbs fishing a crankbait and now we came out today and had to slow down and throw a neko rig and ned rig but still caught 5 fishing pushing 30lbs – absolute insane mega bag. It was an interesting example though of how you have to adapt daily to different fishing conditions and bass that are just in different feeding moods every time you go to the lake. The fish would not react to the crankbait like I wanted them too and I turned to fishing soft plastic worm rigs insanely slow over hard bottom like shell and sand. Another amazing day on the water in Florida!

I picked out some of my favorite early winter bass fishing lures for fishing as the water starts to get cold and fish turn to their prespawn and winter patterns. Choice baits this time of year are hardbaits such as jigs, crankbaits, Red Eye Shad style trap lures – however swimbaits still play a big roll I have some super unique micro swimbaits to share with you. A rigs or umbrella rigs are also a big deal on lakes like Chickamauga, Guntersville, and any lake that is shad focused. You told me it would happen and today it did. Bog the rescue pitbull fell in the lake and almost drowned. We were fishing and the dog tried to transfer boats and fell in the water. He went under 2 times and I could not grab his collar so I dove in after him. There is a lot of current in the river so I was scared he would get caught in it and he was freaking out – scary moment to say the least. I am just glad he is alright and we will be looking for a dog life jacket as well as being super careful when we bring Bog the dog to the lake to go fishing!

I got the most insane sight fishing bite fishing for bass in a tiny clear creek on Lake Lanier. It was unbelievable!!! Reeling in a Nichols Ned Rig Jig with a Gambler Ace I had two bass follow the bait all the way to the boat. I flipped the bait back out while looking at the fish and it bit!!! Absolutely insane!!! Probably the best sight fishing bites I have ever had. We caught some other spotted bass on a range of techniques from throwing Sebile swimbaits to casting micro swimbaits on ball jig heads. Lake Lanier is super clear and the creeks were no exceptions so using light line and more finesse fishing techniques was key.
