Do pros really need all these electronics on a bass boat? In this video we install a Precision Sonar triple fish finder mount on my new bass boat and I tell you why I think I need it.
In this video my friend Nathan from Sea Clear Power shows how to install and setup the Lowrance Active Target forward facing sonar like the pros. Nathan has rigged out a bunch of pro angler bass boats and he shows you exactly how to install and tweak Active Target with your Lowrance HDS and Elite sonar units.
As you know I put a Lowrance Ghost trolling motor on my bass boat a few weeks ago and one thing that frustrates me is no pro angler will be honest in reviewing positives and negatives of a product. In this video we review the Lowrance Ghost – taking a look at the spot lock feature, sonar and graph integration, some of the creature boat comforts it offers, as well as some of the quirks that stand out. Overall, I love the trolling motor but there are a few things that need a little TLC or aftermarket tweaks to take full advantage of. I’m no pro angler but I hope this honest review will help you get a better idea of what the Ghost has to offer.
I try to make fishing as simple and easy as possible especially when it comes to looking for and finding fish on a new lake. One of the things I like to do during the cold weather winter periods is do some pre fishing using my lake contour maps so I can plot out a plan for what parts and structures of a lake look like they’re good to fish. Structures likes humps, points, bluffs, creek channels can all be identified on a lake map and you can then use your waypoints to note areas you might want to check out and try to fish. It is not the perfect solution all the time but I’ve found for me having a list of areas I want to fish for bass all noted on my C Map keeps me from losing confidence halfway through the day if I’m not catching fish or if, as winter fishing can be, it’s kind of slow.
I can honestly say the first 5 casts with my fishing rod this morning cost me $3000. I made a horrible mistake out fishing the lake after I caught a bass on a jig, I nearly broke down in tears. I guess this is why I should go bank fishing!!!! We try to run through some less talked about patterns for fall fishing and fall bass location as well as what fishing lures and soft plastic worms and baits are the best for catching more fish this time of year.
I finally got my Lowrance HDS LIVE units installed so I’m going to set up the ultimate scanning screen the pros don’t want you to know about. Sonar is a powerful tool and the new dual mounts offer anglers a lot of information to take in while fishing. In this tutorial we break downs some basic Lowarance sonar screens you will need for every day fishing as well as the ultimate down scan idling screen for finding offshore bass and cross referencing different sonar reads to get the best idea of what the fish are doing and how they are set up.
Ever since I won this bass boat I have been trying to make mods and upgrades to tweak this rig into the perfect fishing machine. One thing I’ve been dreaming of is having double graphs at the dash so we went with the leader Bass Boat Technologies Dual Graph Mount and Stacker Mount. I noticed however there is not an install video on YouTube that’s a true tutorial on how to install the Bass Boat Technologies mount. So in this walk thru my not so mechanically inclined self goes through the tools, steps and process I used for the install of both the bow and dash mount.
If you’re interested in learning more about the mounts I installed you can find them right here https://www.bassboattech.com/

I’ve NEVER been to this clear water lake ever!!! Google Maps found it! So the challenge is to find fish now break down every part of the lake and go through the process I use when I’m fishing a new body of water for the very first time!!! For me it all starts with technology like using Google Maps or Google Earth to find lakes near me and analyze how clear the water is, what the layout of the lake is, does it have a boat ramp? Then we use technology like our C Map and Lowrance sonar to scan and understand the bottom if it’s slime or sand and look for bass. We explore the whole process of finding a lake as well as figuring out and and catching bass in a variety of scenarios!!

I love to catch bass but am I willing to get my truck stuck in the middle of an orange grove to punch for fish???? YES!!! This is the sketchiest fishing adventure I’ve ever taken to a lake I’ve never seen but it had mats and big Florida bass in mats are irresistible! I try to shoot fun vids and when my friend said he knew about a lake that had a dirt boat ramp where you could get your truck stuck but their were mats everywhere I couldn’t turn it down. We went out and punched for spring bass and it was a grind – some of the toughest but most fun fishing I’ve done yet this year down in Florida! Of course I lost a giant and so did my friend but the best part was going on the adventure and finding a new fishing hole!!!
