There are a few fishing lures that I have supreme confidence in when fishing for 10 pound plus bass on some of the trophy fishing lakes in Florida. They are big reaction style baits – a magnum crankbait, a magnum spoon, and a custom swimbait. I’ve had more success catching monster bass on these baits than almost any other reaction style fishing lures. Fishing for bass with spoons is awesome this time of year especially as we go in to winter fishing and the cold water periods. it seems hard baits like spoons that mimic forage such as shad can be key to triggering bass to bite. One of the most important tricks to fishing magnum spoons I have found is not allowing the fish to jump once they’re hooked.
