There are 2 lures that catch fish 365 days of the year – a Keitech Swimbait and a Ned Rig – 2 deadly lures for bass. In this video I show you a few techniques for fishing a Keitech and Ned Rig that not too many anglers talk about.
In this fishing video I talk about chatterbait fishing tips and the best chatterbait trailers by testing them underwater. The soft plastic lure you pick to use on your chatterbait can really change the action of your bait so understanding what a chatterbait looks like underwater with different chatterbait trailers can help you catch more bass. We also reveal and test a new prototype lure that we made specifically as a jig trailer or chatterbait trailer. This is the homemade soft plastic version so it’s not perfect but the outcome was super cool!
I picked out some of my favorite early winter bass fishing lures for fishing as the water starts to get cold and fish turn to their prespawn and winter patterns. Choice baits this time of year are hardbaits such as jigs, crankbaits, Red Eye Shad style trap lures – however swimbaits still play a big roll I have some super unique micro swimbaits to share with you. A rigs or umbrella rigs are also a big deal on lakes like Chickamauga, Guntersville, and any lake that is shad focused. The new Gambler Goat Locked Up Swimbait Head is perfect for a rig and we review it. Just remember, the best part about this time of year is if you brave the winter weather and put your time in bass fishing these cold water conditions can produce some of the biggest fish of the year – there is a real opportunity for an angler to catch a PB or trophy bass.
It’s swimbait time – big winter and spring bass are chewing and giant artificial lures like glide baits and jointed swimbaits are awesome tools for catching giant bass. I have been collecting some fishing lures – some of them rare and some of them available at tackle shops but I want to be ready to learn how to fish more glide baits and large swimbaits for bass this winter. I even got a crazy ultra realistic line thru glide bait that was literally designed from a real shad!!! I love catching big fish and there is no doubt swimbait fishing is a great technique for targeting trophy bass and it’s also an insanely cool way to fish for bass! Thanks to Kevin the Baitman Baxter – throw him a sub https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCup6q6q-j1i4OGjhsjrbLPA The Shizzard should be available soon more info @doubledigitbass on Instagram Huge thanks to Rod and make sure to give him a follow @rwhallman His artistry on the real shad line thru glide bait was amazing!!!
There are always 2 sides to a story but it looks like the trophy bass master Mike Long may have cheated and lied about some of his angling records, fishing tournament wins, and just flat out behaved unethically while bass fishing – basically he’s a fraud. Long is a famous figure in bass fishing history and marks a point in the timeline putting trophy California fishing on the map as well as playing a huge role in popularizing big swimbait fishing across the U.S. His 20+lbs fish made the cover of Bassmaster back in the early 2000’s and he still plays a role in fishing defining the direction of trophy bass fishing as well as the Cali swimbait and tournament scene.
I love exploring tackle shops in the U.S. so we stopped at Hammond’s Fishing Center on Lake Lanier and did a walk thru. This tackle shop is crazy – it looks like a log cabin and is piled high with fishing lures, fishing rods, and even crazy epic live bait tanks with Herring, Minnows and more!!!! Tim owns Hammonds and he’s a good friend so he tooks some time to walk us through the shop and tell us a bit about fishing Lake Lanier, spotted bass, largemouth bass, and local custom swimbaits that I thought were crazy cool!
You can find out more about this crazy tackle shop Hammond’s Fishing Center right here http://hammondsfishing.net/
Stay tuned for our next episode when we get out on the water with Tim for some bass fishing and fishing tips for Lake Lanier and catching magnum spotted bass!!!

I got the most insane sight fishing bite fishing for bass in a tiny clear creek on Lake Lanier. It was unbelievable!!! Reeling in a Nichols Ned Rig Jig with a Gambler Ace I had two bass follow the bait all the way to the boat. I flipped the bait back out while looking at the fish and it bit!!! Absolutely insane!!! Probably the best sight fishing bites I have ever had. We caught some other spotted bass on a range of techniques from throwing Sebile swimbaits to casting micro swimbaits on ball jig heads. Lake Lanier is super clear and the creeks were no exceptions so using light line and more finesse fishing techniques was key.

My buddy Cobi let me check out his super expensive Roman Made Swimbait!!! Insane fishing lure! We went to Lake Guntersville to bass fish and Cobi caught some insane glide bait bass fishing super shallow water. It started as a Ned Rig only fishing trip but as the bass moved up and became more active Cobi’s commitment to the Glide Bait paid off!! These fish are so pressured so seeing something completely custom like a homemade swimbait they get triggered!!!
This was one of the most unbelievable days fishing I’ve ever had. WE seriously saved her life by catching her choking on a giant carp on Lake Kissimmee! I was out with FLW Pro Tyler Woolcott and he snagged a fish with a trap fishing lure and it turned out she was choking on a fish she tried to eat. We saved her life by pulling the carp out of her mouth…serioulsy! I’ve only seen this twice before in all my fishing and each time the fish was choking on bream. I’ve never seen a fish eat something so big and seriously be on it’s way to other world. It’s suck a cool thing too, this fish was giant – all of 8-9lbs and without us catching her the way we did she would have never survived. I have spent a lot of time on the lake but I still run into some crazy things out on the water and this one was epic. Any time you can see a fish that big and play a role in saving her life is a good day on the lake, I can’t wait to see what our next adventure will bring
