I love to catch bass but am I willing to get my truck stuck in the middle of an orange grove to punch for fish???? YES!!! This is the sketchiest fishing adventure I’ve ever taken to a lake I’ve never seen but it had mats and big Florida bass in mats are irresistible! I try to shoot fun vids and when my friend said he knew about a lake that had a dirt boat ramp where you could get your truck stuck but their were mats everywhere I couldn’t turn it down. We went out and punched for spring bass and it was a grind – some of the toughest but most fun fishing I’ve done yet this year down in Florida! Of course I lost a giant and so did my friend but the best part was going on the adventure and finding a new fishing hole!!!

We all have our confidence fishing lures but there is one way to rig and fish a plastic worm that by far is my FAVORITE!!! WACKY RIGGING is to bass what candy is to humans. I don’t know why but rigging a soft plastic worm like a stick bait or finesse worm wacky style just draws fish to bite – and not just little bass but big ones as well. It’s a subtle technique where the hook is placed through the middle of the worm to create a flexing type motion when twitched with the fishing rod. It’s not just a finesse fishing technique either, I wacky rig giant worms when Neko Rigging for trophy bass in Florida as well.

This was one crazy fishing find, you’ll never believe what was in her mouth when I caught this giant bass!!! We tested the VMC Tokyo Rig to see if it’s worth fishing as well as did what I think is a pretty epic DIY Mod for ultra finesse fishing. Overall I think it’s a pretty cool rig! The Tokyo Rig combines a hook and a wire leader with a swivel so that the plastic worm you add fishes above the bottom. With our DIY Mod we’ve taken the rig to a more finesse fishing level adding a small cirle hook or drop shot style hooks so we could nose hook small plastic finesse worms for fish under a lot of pressure in clear water situations. We used the lure on a school of pre spawn bass that have been hard to catch on more power fishing techniques.

Catching fish punching mats in Florida is one of the most epic techniques to catch big bass during the winter and spring. Punching is probably one of my favorite ways to catch fish due to the heavy grass and intensity of the bit and the fight! This is punching heavy grass unplugged following the YouTuber vs Pro challenge with Glenn Browne and former NFL player Ellis. Just some #realfishing footage with a solid tips and techniques recap that should help you catch more fish in 2019 when you target and flip heavy grass.

The key pattern was targeting points and corners where fish were stacked up but tentative to bite until they were triggered by pumping the lure under the mat or suspending it.

Ever wonder if Youtubers can beat pros at fishing in a punching challenge fishing tournament? The challenge is on punching for bass on Lake Rousseau against pro angler Glenn Browne and a former NFL football player Ellis vs Mikeybalzz Fishing and Chris of 44 Tackle! Punching is an awesome winter and spring technique for catching bass on their way to spawn in Florida. Heavy cover and heavy vegetation like hydrilla, milfoil, and hyacinth retain heat and offer a great hideout for fish as they stage up. Glenn is one of the masters at punching heavy cover and he used a 1.5oz tungsten weight a heavy Lews fishing rod and a new Lews fishing reel made specifically for punching spooled up with 65lbs braided fishing line.

I love to fish for bass on any lake with a gigantic crankbait. There’s a variety of fishing lures out there that dive deep and draw an epic reaction from fish when it goes by – and these things are pretty large, many weigh over 1 ounce.
