How to identify an active brushpile – Lowrance Elite 5 vs HDS 12
onI spent a ton of time scanning with a small Lowrance Elite unit with downscan. Now that I’ve added the HDS it’s interesting to take a look and compare how they look. Here’s a look at a comparison view of a brushpile that is holding bass as well as bait and how that translates on your Lowrance electronics.
GoPro Floating Mount for Awesome Shots
onTook some time to have some fun and build a GoPro floating mount to capture shots of casts and maybe even some fish jumps. Using some stuff from the hardware store and a tripod mount from Monster Fishing here’s how it came out:

onout on a breezy but warm day fishing brushpiles but struggling a bit to stay lined up on them. ended up losing a 5 pound fish throwing a Gambler Wrecking Ball paired up with a half of an ER 16 mag straight worm. switched over to a carolina rig with a big heaver Reins Tungsten weight to stay more connected with the bottom and cover when dragging rigged up with a Burner Worm and popped a 7 pound bass.

onflipping mats and punching for bass is not a one stop shop. there are a lot of variations and nuances depending on such factors as fishing pressure as well as water temp. if you have finicky bass in the mats and they just don’t seem to bite your standard 1.5oz tungsten and big creature bait, here are some tips to taking more of a finesse approach to punching.
