If you’re crazy about fishing for bass this bait shop will make you drool. Franks Great Outdoors in Michigan makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop. Not to mention that before even walking in to the shop we met a guy that makes a crazy fishing scent and he threw Benjamin and I some swag to take smallie fishing. The road trip series continues as we get close to a shot at my PB smallmouth bass. This bait shot blew my mind though! Every aisle made me drool and want to grab all kinds of crazy fishing lures that. I have goosebumps from a totally unscheduled fishing stop on my road trip north at Kentucky Lake. Bank fishing for bass I managed to catch my PB spotted bass fishing a drop shot rig in a small bay right next to the dam. Headed on a road trip to my brother’s wedding and some epic smallmouth bass fishing in Michigan I just randomly stopped and got a hotel for the night down the road from Kentucky Lake, grabbed a fishing liscense, and went out OG style trying to catch my first Kentucky Lake bass – I would’ve never known it would be my PB!!! This is just the beginning of a road trip series chronicling my trip to search for my PB smallmouth bass with my buddy Benjamin Nowak. So stay tuned!

Fishing for bass on the weekend – especially on a popular river – means you’re going to have to deal with jet skis and total douche bags on the water. Still think it’s CRAZY how this jet ski cut me off running full wake thru a back water area – NOT SAFE!!!!!! That said we caught some bass targeting a local river in a high pressure period with a bunch of leisure boaters out. Goes to show fish will bite all the time just have work for it. Revealed a few fun techniques and tips here to focus on when heading to a local river to fish for bass!

Finnaly fishing for bass and popping the cherry on the new bass boat rig! Such a huge day and the fishing cooperated. This time of year fishing can be a little spotty but swing head jigs, stick baits, jigs and a little bit of neko rigging did the trick getting bites. Florida fishing is about to get super good – epic good – as these fish settle in to pre summer patterns. So stoked and thankful to have this rig and pop the cherry on one of my favorite lakes with some solid bass!

Had my first time fishing the Ned Rig for bass – and the fish eat it! It’s a finesse fishing technique that I had heard about but never tried. Took it out to the lake fishing for fish schooling in deeper water but that were in a very negative mood due to heavy fishing pressure and one of the biggest winter cold fronts of the year in Florida. The bass loved it! My first fish was over 5lbs and I can’t tell you how many bites I got where as throwing a drop shot rig, swimbait, Neko Rig and other finesse style fishing lures would not get bit. Learning a new fishing technique is a blast but when the results are like this, it’s something to note. Stay tuned as I play with some variations on the standard Ned Rig for bass and spruce it up a little bit Florida style for huge finicky fish!

The most INSANE day of bass fishing ever – biggest set of 5 fish captured on YouTube ever!!! Cast to catch #RealFishing a 49lbs 3oz bag of bass on a public Florida lake – the craziest day of fishing for bass I’ll experience in my entire life. The hot fishing technique: all deep diving crankbaits and specifically the Strike King 10XD. Phytobedo and I have been doing this trip for years and we always talk about breaking his PB with a DD and it finally happened in probably the most EPIC day ever! Icicles in Florida? Winter fishing is the ideal time to go fishing for bass and target huge fish with crankbaits! I always try to mix in fishing tips and techniques and this is a big one when it comes to crankbaits and fishing plugs – it’s all about wobble, vibration, body shape, and in general – water displacement. I bought a bunch of stuff at Tackle Warehouse to show off what I’m talking about. Not every big, super deep crank is the same, and it’s the subtle differences that mattter.
