Frog fishing for bass is almost as fun as punching. We broke down 3 types of frog fishing anyone trying to fish catch fish must know about. We also threw in our top frog lure picks as well as what kind of fishing line and what type of fishing rod to throw them on to catch more bass wherever your lake is at! Bass Quest also let the secret out on frog lure colors and what you REALLY need to look at when picking a frog to fish with. There’s been such a hot frog bite on Lake Okeechobee lately – and in general summer is a great time to be using frogs to catch bass – I thought it was time to get in depth on this fishing technique and cast some fishing tips your way to catch more and bigger bass the next time you head to the water!

If I had to pick one I would say the most hated rig in the bass fishing community overall is the Carolina Rig. I’ve run into more guys who recognize it’s value, the Carolina Rig’s ability to catch fish in a wide range of situations, but still flat out hate the setup with a vengeance. I too am one of those who is not a fan of the rig but knows it’s something you need to know how to use and throw if you want to be decent at bass fishing.

Threw some summer fishing tips down for you right here along with some horrible singing! LOL! it’s not always about huge bass, sometimes it’s about getting out and getting bit and especially during summer that hated rig can play in to your hand if you can find some mixing water or current to locate fish on structure, which is exactly what we did here.

Fishing for bass is a contact sport on Lake Okeechobee and sometimes you end up bleeding from injuries – especially when you punching for bass! Well that’s what happened to poor Bass Quest when grabbing a 7+lbs Lake Okeechobee bass that I had punched out of heavy cover and he ended up bleeding all over the place! In summer you can’t beat targeting heavy cover using the pitching technique to present fishing lures to fish setup in water around heavy cover. When it comes to fishing techniques it’s one of my favorite and it’s such an intensely INSANE way to catch fish on any lake.

Sorry Bass Quest for making you bleed!!!

Key fishing lures were a punching rig with a Hawg Tech Tungsten weight and a Gambler 4″ Flippn Tube paired up with a 5/0 Owner Hook.

If you’re crazy about fishing for bass this bait shop will make you drool. Franks Great Outdoors in Michigan makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop. Not to mention that before even walking in to the shop we met a guy that makes a crazy fishing scent and he threw Benjamin and I some swag to take smallie fishing. The road trip series continues as we get close to a shot at my PB smallmouth bass. This bait shot blew my mind though! Every aisle made me drool and want to grab all kinds of crazy fishing lures that. There is something here for every technique for bass and my mind was blown – absolutely insane selection right next to some of the best bass fishing in Michigan. Like epic bait shops? It’s the final fishing tournament with the old bass boat before we move all the gear and graphs to the new Triton fishing rig! Fished a super clear lake with my good buddy Charlie who is a stick out there! Different format tournament than your standard fishing derby – got to sleep in and rig rods in the morning . Had time to shoot some video about the rigs we’re using out there too and what catches fish in super clear water situations during the transition between spawn to post spawn. But all in all it’s the final voyage with the old fishing boat. She will be missed but change is good! Can’t wait to get the new girl out there and break her in with some giant bass!

Icicles in Florida? Winter fishing is the ideal time to go fishing for bass and target huge fish with crankbaits! I always try to mix in fishing tips and techniques and this is a big one when it comes to crankbaits and fishing plugs – it’s all about wobble, vibration, body shape, and in general – water displacement. I bought a bunch of stuff at Tackle Warehouse to show off what I’m talking about. Not every big, super deep crank is the same, and it’s the subtle differences that mattter. So on the coldest day this winter we’re going to break down the best crankbait fishing secrets I have and then head out to the lake on a freezing winter day when nobody goes fishing but the crazy people (i.e. me) – and yeah we catch a #thunkdonkey!

an unforgettable day captured by gopro fishing the florida everglades.  with the water low fish push out into the last remaining deep water – i.e. the canals; and it can make for a big bass smash.  it’s not about catching them, it’s more about catching the biggest ones you possibly can.  best 5 went around 37lbs all caught on magnum baits – D&M Custom Baits Flippin Craw and 1/2oz Reins Tungsten.
