There are a lot of fishing techniques you can use to catch fish behind other bass boats fishing a lake – and this one they hate me for!!!! In this video we catch some bass and get in depth into how to longline for bass using smaller crankbaits on light fishing line to trigger reaction strikes. I love this kind of fishing – but I’m sure I’ll get some hate for it being trolling. It’s a super efficient winter tactic in Florida for combatting googans and continuing to catch fish on highly pressured lakes.

We all have our confidence fishing lures but there is one way to rig and fish a plastic worm that by far is my FAVORITE!!! WACKY RIGGING is to bass what candy is to humans. I don’t know why but rigging a soft plastic worm like a stick bait or finesse worm wacky style just draws fish to bite – and not just little bass but big ones as well. It’s a subtle technique where the hook is placed through the middle of the worm to create a flexing type motion when twitched with the fishing rod. It’s not just a finesse fishing technique either, I wacky rig giant worms when Neko Rigging for trophy bass in Florida as well.

We tested the VMC Tokyo Rig to see if it’s worth fishing as well as did what I think is a pretty epic DIY Mod for ultra finesse fishing. Overall I think it’s a pretty cool rig! The Tokyo Rig combines a hook and a wire leader with a swivel so that the plastic worm you add fishes above the bottom. With our DIY Mod we’ve taken the rig to a more finesse fishing level adding a small cirle hook or drop shot style hooks so we could nose hook small plastic finesse worms for fish under a lot of pressure in clear water situations. We used the lure on a school of pre spawn bass that have been hard to catch on more power fishing techniques.

We all have rigs and fishing lures that we believe in and and always have tied up. My confidence fishing rig shows off in this video – the Mag Ned Rig and the Neko Rig are standards whenever I get on the lake. I have caught a lot of big fish as well as numbers of bass fishing these rigs and that really leads me to having the confidence that I can get a bite on them on any body of water – lake, ultra clear water, river – even outside Florida. The are both especially good fishing techniques for winter fishing down here in Florida when pre spawn bass feed to move up to spawn.

Is it worth it to buy the most expensive jerk bait fishing lure? The answer is yes. The Megabass Vision jerk baits are INSANE! On this clear water fishing trip to the lake I used them to target bass that were schooling on shad and suspending in ultra clear water and caught my biggest fish on the Vision 110! I throw it on a 7′ fishing rod with a moderate action made for crank bait fishing and use 12lbs flourocarbon fishing line. The lures are no doubt crazy expensive but imo totally worth it in the way they draw bites from fish that just don’t seem to be interested in any other fishing lure or jerk bait.

Funniest part of the day is I had to go on a polar swimming adventure because my bass boat drifted away from the boat ramp – water temp was a freezing winter 52!!!!! Always make sure you tie up your boat – don’t just rely on Power Poles!!!

I always thought I hated shady anglers and bass fishermen that threw shade all over the place. Come to find out in fact I’m shady and I love to throw shade when I’m using my C-Map on lakes. So I just started fishing these lakes and I’m looking for any way to be more efficient and practical with my search for fish. In this video we use a custom shading tool on my C-Map lake maps to do some depth shading in order to identify the most productive water for fishing on different kinds of lakes. this process also helps when navigating your bass boat on a new lake as well as highlighting differences in depths and changes through contrasting colors and custom palettes that work best for you. Summer fishing means cheating HUGE bass and we busted out the spoons and kitchen utensils in this technique video. Hot water temperatures can make fishing for bass tough this time of year but it can also lead to huge catches if you use the right fishing lures or utensils….and sometimes you have to cheat and go HUGE with big spoons like the NIchols Magnum Ben Parker Spoon.

The bass seemed to school up in the water during the morning period and I tried to show Fishing With Norm a quick cheat walk thru to the basics of the spoon technique – funny part is we also helped out a couple high school anglers try out this kitchen utensil spoon technique as well! By the end of the morning I think Fishing with Norm thought it was cheating too!! Things just got crazy and the lake showed off unbelievably!
