The first Gambler Gear Up fishing package is out and I got my hands on one early! It includes 14 bags of Gambler fishing baits all selected by pro angler JT Kenney as well as a 5 Liter Gambler Tek Dry Bag and a Gambler Buff.
I go through and look at the colors and bait styles incorporated in the package. I also look at some of the fishing techniques and applications I use these types of baits for. I like JT Kenney and really agree with his fishing bait picks especially if you’re looking to simplify what kinds of plastics you have with you for fishing a range of lakes and bodies of water. These are the right colors and the right styles to do anything from fish shallow grass to targeting offshore bass.
I get a lot of viewers asking why I have a Lowrance Hook 7 on my front deck when I already have an HDS 9 Touch – there are some very specific reasons related to fishing for bass offshore that I’ve installed that fish finder on the bow. It is very much related to using the down scan to target fish more specifically and efficiently
Let me know if you have any questions and what your experience with these units is.
So the trolling motor on the boat broke the other day and I’ve got the itch to go fishing….but I have no boat. Time to go back to my roots and tap into the awesome bank fishing available in South Florida. You can catch peacocks, bass, snook, all kinds of fish down here. So I decided to hit up a public park that has a pond and see what I could put together on Mother’s Day. Threw the girl, the baits, the bikes and some fishing rods in the truck and took a hike to hunt for bass.

Conditions – early summer temps in the 80’s wind strong from the west, partly cloudy.
I’ve been catching giants with crankbaits and using a technique called long lining or strolling. Here’s a break down of how I’m using these tools to target bass schooled up in deep water haunts. All the gear and fishing tackle used in the video can be found below. Me and my boy Marc punched mats for bass. We found them super shalllow and flipped heavy cover with Gambler Craw Daddys. Focused on matted hydrilla with clearer water inside from the main lake. Seemed like fish were stacked up on a 50-60 yard stretch. Got a ton of bites and caught one 5lbs thunker.
Can’t believe this happened. Caught this 8+lbs bass on a crankbait longlining in cloudy weather. Saw the group of fish and lost it. This was literally one pass and caught a giant fish!
I caught a 10lbs 14oz bass on a cranbait fishing in central Florida waiting for a friend. A pre spawn fish out in deeper water I fished the crank in a unique technique called longlining. Wish I would’ve brought my net but managed to land her by hand and catch it all on the GoPro. All equipment and tackle details below, check them out!
