Now that we’re back in Florida we took an adventure to the Gambler Lures warehouse and broke in to steal some fishing lures and finally caught up with Val and asked him some questions about where the swimbait design came from and what got him in to fishing and Gambler Lures in the first place.
Now that we’re in Florida we’ll be shooting a bunch of vids on Lake Okeechobee, Lake Kissimee, maybe Stick Marsh and all the deep water fisheries. Winter is the best time of year to fish Florida because bass are staging up to spawn and eating a ton!!!! Not to mention winter temps in the mid 70’s. If we get a warm spell we may even be able to do some sight fishing!!!!
Interested in the baits we showed off when we broke in to the warehouse? Find them at Tackle Warehouse!!!!
We caught a MASSIVE blue crab fishing in Florida for bass and it wanted to fight. My best friend used a net to trap the crab as it swam right down the middle of a Miami canal. I have no idea why it was there or what it was doing. The Atlantic Ocean is not too far away but for a blue crab to travel that far is amazing!
This is the vlog of my peacock bass fishing trip with my best friend to Miami – the one of the only place in the whole U.S where you can catch exotic species like the Peacock Bass. We targeted fish sight fishing with small swimbaits as well as using topwater poppers which ended up being the key to getting bigger bites.

I really hate punching heavy cover for bass on places like Lake Okeechobee and Lake Kissimmee…Florida bass fishing is terrible…SERIOUSLY?!?!? SUBSCRIBE https://www.youtube.com/user/mikeybalzzfishing
This is one of the most intense ways to cheat bass in to biting during high pressure situations and it’s flat out the funnest fishing technique I have ever learned. When you have semi clear water and heavy vegetation or cover using a heavy tungsten weight, a fairly heavy action fishing rod, and an attitude to grind whatever lake you might be on! There’s nothing more raw that targeting these type of fish when the situation is right. Heavy cover provides bass a hangout where they can live in low light water conditions and ambush whatever they want to eat as it passes by. Vegetation like hyacinth, penny wort, and water lettuce are some of the key types of vegetation we looks for as well a underwater hydrilla or milfoil. All provide those canopy characteristics that are perfectly suited for using this fishing technique. Braided fishing line, heavy guage hooks, and a solid snell knot. The fish bite is usually a slight tap or dead weight and sometimes you might be tricked thinking you are hung up on vegetation especially during fall and winter seasons when activity levels can be lower. Isolated targets are the best for bigger fish but that can be a challenge – it can mean targeting less fish more spread out.
So you want to try this fishing technique, punching for bass, what kind of fishing rods, fishing line, and terminal tackle do you need? Here it is:

With the spillway gates open a lot of current is pushing the algae down the river towards the coast and our challenge is to take advantage of the fishing opportunity moving water provides during the summer heat. Fishing for bass I didn’t know I could have a stalker on the lake!?! Out on Lake Okeechobee punching for bass I ran into the FWC – always awesome and super helpful to us anglers! So I decided to ask the officers about the fishing stalker I have while bass fishing on my deeper water. I’m sure you guys remember the videos talking about the angler that moves brush piles and harasses other boats fishing offshore structure – dude is crazy flat out. He’ll stalk you whenever the paranoia gets to him and that’s crazy!!! It was interesting to what the officers had to say and they even cited another social media occurrence where another angler was being harassed. It was good to find out what I can do if I run into that guy on the water and we got to flip reeds with a shot at a giant bass!!!
