You don’t expect to meet a celebrity when you go TROPHY bass fishing. BUT WE DID!!!! Guess who? And then I catch my biggest bass of 2019 – a PB throwing one of my favorite fishing rigs for bass, a Mag Ned Rig! We went to fish a private lake with my friend Charlie and I had one goal, catch a PB bass. After we met Lunker Louie – a master angler that catches giant bass on lakes like Istapoga. He’s a celebrity in bass fishing who has a ton of Trophy Catch Florida bass as well as appeared on shows like a Fishing Story.

2 techniques that we used to catch fish were a Mag Ned Rig – this time with a weedless jig and a stick bait. Charlie used a Hollow body swimbait on a lead head jig swimming it over the bottom and over lake structures in 10-14ft of water.

This bass is insanely huge – fishing for bass with crankbaits, a great winter fishing technique, this fish runs me nearly out of fishing line but I barely land here and call my buddy to show off because she’s that BIG! As far as fishing techniques are concerned using reaction baits during cold water fishing periods is one of the only ways to get them to bite – especially huge bass like this. For some reason when water temps drop into the 60’s it’s tough to catch big fish on most soft plastics. This is a great example of adapting to the conditions and targeting less but bigger bass to come up with a trophy fish in late winter/early spring in Florida!

Best day of fishing for bass EVER – the most epic 5 fish limit I’ve ever caught in my entire life out fishing! Breaking 40lbs out on the lake is a milestone and I got it all on video! Fishing conditions were horrible which make them perfect for insane days like this. Frontal, rainy, cloudy weather set up these bass where I’ve never seen them before. We took water over the front of the boat but every minute was worth it to hit that 40lbs achievement! Fishing for bass with huge swimbaits is crazy fun in any day but when you catch a GIANT 10lbs 12oz fish it’s an epic day. There are some fishing tips and techniques you need to know when targeting trophy bass if you want to catch your PB and we break them down in this bass fishing video. This is the best time of year to be fishing for bass in Florida! Another insane day on the lake using crankbaits to draw reaction strikes from fish including a massive 9lbs trophy catch and another over 7lbs. Absolutely epic bites either fishing lures super slow or turning to high speed power fishing techniques like a 10XD grinding on the bottom.

Weather was key as yet again cloudy conditions and a front made fish more active with wind creating current throughout the lake.

Did the grind on a late summer bite with not much to show on the numbers side but we did manage 2 duck and roll fat girls pushing 8 and change. Caught mine on a D&M Sniper Spinnerbait and Donny’s came on a Medlock Jig. Low light in the morning and an afternoon storm really gave way to a window for a couple big bites.
