out on a breezy but warm day fishing brushpiles but struggling a bit to stay lined up on them.  ended up losing a 5 pound fish throwing a Gambler Wrecking Ball paired up with a half of an ER 16 mag straight worm.  switched over to a carolina rig with a big heaver Reins Tungsten weight to stay more connected with the bottom and cover when dragging rigged up with a Burner Worm and popped a 7 pound bass.

flipping mats and punching for bass is not a one stop shop.  there are a lot of variations and nuances depending on such factors as fishing pressure as well as water temp.  if you have finicky bass in the mats and they just don’t seem to bite your standard 1.5oz tungsten and big creature bait, here are some tips to taking more of a finesse approach to punching.
