There are a lot of fishing techniques you can use to catch fish behind other bass boats fishing a lake – and this one they hate me for!!!! In this video we catch some bass and get in depth into how to longline for bass using smaller crankbaits on light fishing line to trigger reaction strikes. I love this kind of fishing – but I’m sure I’ll get some hate for it being trolling. It’s a super efficient winter tactic in Florida for combatting googans and continuing to catch fish on highly pressured lakes.

I love to catch bass but am I willing to get my truck stuck in the middle of an orange grove to punch for fish???? YES!!! This is the sketchiest fishing adventure I’ve ever taken to a lake I’ve never seen but it had mats and big Florida bass in mats are irresistible! I try to shoot fun vids and when my friend said he knew about a lake that had a dirt boat ramp where you could get your truck stuck but their were mats everywhere I couldn’t turn it down. We went out and punched for spring bass and it was a grind – some of the toughest but most fun fishing I’ve done yet this year down in Florida! Of course I lost a giant and so did my friend but the best part was going on the adventure and finding a new fishing hole!!!

We all have our confidence fishing lures but there is one way to rig and fish a plastic worm that by far is my FAVORITE!!! WACKY RIGGING is to bass what candy is to humans. I don’t know why but rigging a soft plastic worm like a stick bait or finesse worm wacky style just draws fish to bite – and not just little bass but big ones as well. It’s a subtle technique where the hook is placed through the middle of the worm to create a flexing type motion when twitched with the fishing rod. It’s not just a finesse fishing technique either, I wacky rig giant worms when Neko Rigging for trophy bass in Florida as well.

We tested the VMC Tokyo Rig to see if it’s worth fishing as well as did what I think is a pretty epic DIY Mod for ultra finesse fishing. Overall I think it’s a pretty cool rig! The Tokyo Rig combines a hook and a wire leader with a swivel so that the plastic worm you add fishes above the bottom. With our DIY Mod we’ve taken the rig to a more finesse fishing level adding a small cirle hook or drop shot style hooks so we could nose hook small plastic finesse worms for fish under a lot of pressure in clear water situations. We used the lure on a school of pre spawn bass that have been hard to catch on more power fishing techniques.

Going full HOBO – I got the new fishing truck I wanted to find a deal on a bigger truck like a RAM 2500 and I wanted to be on the road homeless but literally feel at home sleeping in the truck. This is step 1 in the process of travel video road trip fishing! I originally wanted a Ford F-250 but price point (poverty LOL) and some other travel features drove me to the Ram 2500. It’s gonna be like living in a van – almost literally but the larger bed and some of the DIY tweaks I make along with adding a topper are going to make homeless road trip life feel pretty homey!

There are few techniques for bass fishing in summer that I love as much as this one. The NEKO RIG has caught me so man fish in the hot summer months it’s INSANE. It’s such a simple technique and basically allows you to deliver a wacky rigged fishing lure at depths bass normally don’t see such a rig. The other reason I love this technique is it catches small fish up to mondo huge bass! It’s perfect for clear to moderately stained water and in most situations should be fished where you find open hard bottom. Not a lure you want to throw into heavy cover but more geared for targeting pods or schools of fish setup on offshore structure. Some simple strategies for pre fishing Lake Okeechobee when targeting bass for a tournament. I’ll be fishing the RMMC tournament on Lake Okeechobee in a couple weeks so here are a couple ways I get started pre fishing when I can’t be on the water looking for bass. 2 awesome resources are Google Maps and Water Level graphs. They can tell you a whole bunch about the lake before you even start fishing it. Especially for guys like us that work during the week, getting a jump start on pre fishing and tournament prep is huge and all it takes is an internet connection and a computer!

The new Bass Boat is getting some final touches and I made the best decision yet mounting Transducer Shield brackets for my trolling motor and transom Lowrance transducers. There’s also a bonus install of the Grass Deflector and Grass Shredder. We walk through how to install the Transducer Shield accessories I purchased for the new bass boat.
