My boy and subscriber Brent catches a ridiculous PB out bass fishing with me – it’s THE ONE! This was a SUBSCRIBER trip test fishing for bass and it turned out insane! Could not of asked for perfect day, Brent scored a PB – personal best – and we caught it all on video. Aside from the huge bass we were also able to make a ton of catches on my new favorite finesse tackle – the Ned Rig. If the PB was ridiculous for it’s size, the numbers of bass we caught was equally epic. These schools of fish can be moody but when they are set up in such a concentrated pod once you figure out the right lures and presentation it’s game on for catching a ton of fish. Kind of a crazy day too as we had a front gradually passing through and it actually ended up colder at the end of the day then when we first got to the lake. The low pressure system didn’t hurt us and probably triggered a bit of a feeding frenzy for the bass as well.

Had my first time fishing the Ned Rig for bass – and the fish eat it! It’s a finesse fishing technique that I had heard about but never tried. Took it out to the lake fishing for fish schooling in deeper water but that were in a very negative mood due to heavy fishing pressure and one of the biggest winter cold fronts of the year in Florida. The bass loved it! My first fish was over 5lbs and I can’t tell you how many bites I got where as throwing a drop shot rig, swimbait, Neko Rig and other finesse style fishing lures would not get bit. Learning a new fishing technique is a blast but when the results are like this, it’s something to note. Stay tuned as I play with some variations on the standard Ned Rig for bass and spruce it up a little bit Florida style for huge finicky fish!

Icicles in Florida? Winter fishing is the ideal time to go fishing for bass and target huge fish with crankbaits! I always try to mix in fishing tips and techniques and this is a big one when it comes to crankbaits and fishing plugs – it’s all about wobble, vibration, body shape, and in general – water displacement. I bought a bunch of stuff at Tackle Warehouse to show off what I’m talking about. Not every big, super deep crank is the same, and it’s the subtle differences that mattter. Fishing for bass targeting a PB in the Florida winter cold can be insanely epic when you have the fish honed in to a pattern! Took fellow YouTuber Benjamin Nowak to the lake for a few days while he was down from Michigan to target huge pre spawn largemouth bass. We had some trials and we had some travails and hands down this was our craziest day captured all on video! We lay out a few fishing tips and techniques for what to do when faced with a grind day of fishing and it all pays off in the end with Benjamin catching his personal best bass on a crankbait right after locating a school of giant fish on the sonar!

Fishing for bass with huge swimbaits is crazy fun in any day but when you catch a GIANT 10lbs 12oz fish it’s an epic day. Fishing a tournament – mental game, pull out an epic trophy bass late in the day weighing over 8lbs; who doesn’t love fishing a bass tournament! No doubt it turned out pretty clutch. We caught a ton of fish using a wide range of techniques – drop shotting, longlining, Texas Rigged worm, spinnerbait,. Alabama Rig and a Neko Rig. Overall the bass were schooled up and fishing for them required using your graph to identify how the groups had shifted throughout the day. My worry was guys fishing spawning and pre-spawn fish in the grass – there had seemed to be a lot of big fish caught earlier in the week focusing on more traditional bass fishing techniques – topwater, flipping, sight fishing. However we focused on fishing for bass that were offshore staging to come in to spawn and it paid off with this crazy win!

Weather: morning lows in the lower 60’s, highs reaching the mid to upper 70’s; slight breeze in the P.M. and pretty much clear blue skies all day long.

Fished a local Florida fishing tournament and pulled off the win with my buddy weighing in almost 23lbs of bass. We fished a variety of baits – soft plastic worms Texas Rigged, Neko Rigs, crankbaits, and a JTK Hair Jig. Big Bass and Trophy Catch came on a Gambler JTK Hair Jig 5/8oz with 12lbs Sunline Flourocarbon fishing a ledge with shell dropping into deeper water. Conditions were post cold front with bluebird skies and winds becoming very strong by the end of the day (15-20mph out of the north). The bite was good overall regardless of the weather and it was another great local tournament hanging out with friends and fishing one of my favorite lakes in Florida for trophy bass. Ran the GoPro all day and captured pretty much everything. Raw, straight up , tournament fishing at it’s best!

There are still secrets when it comes to fishing for big bass during the hot summer months. It starts with nuanced bait and lure presentations and adjusting them for how the fish set up in cover and on structure when water temps start to push to the boiling point. In the vid I caught over 26lbs of largemouth bass in Florida using some of these less known techniques and using them in a different way than what your average fisherman would. Baits that really stood out today were big swimbaits, hair jigs, Texas-Rigged soft plastics, a Neko Rig, and a Scrounger Jerky J rig. It was an EPIC day and it all came down to analyzing where the fish were at different points in the day, how they were located on structure like shell bars, as well as how the bass transitioned to suspending over heavy cover like brushpiles and offshore fish attractors.

Weather was standard Florida summer – high humidity, temps in the 90’s, partly to mostly sunny skies, and generally very minimal wind.
