Fishing for bass punching heavy grass on Lake Kissimee targeting fish set up in thick cover during the winter pre-spawn season. As a fishing technique flipping mats is one of my favorite and it can lead to crazy days like this when fish group up in areas moving in to spawn. Setups are simple – a heavy action fishing rod over 7’6″, a well built fishing reel, straight shank hook, heavy tungsten weight, and braided fishing line. We needed to downsize when it came to lure choice as well. Fish were in a negative mood and often short striking the bait as it fell through the cover. When that happens my go to soft plastic is a Gambler BB Cricket – super compact and perfect for enticing winter fish feeling too much pressure or reaction to cold weather.

Weather was partly sunny lows in the 60’s highs in the mid 70’s. Fish are in a winter staging pattern moving up to spawn when the moon and the weather get right.

Best day of fishing for bass EVER – the most epic 5 fish limit I’ve ever caught in my entire life out fishing! Breaking 40lbs out on the lake is a milestone and I got it all on video! Fishing conditions were horrible which make them perfect for insane days like this. Frontal, rainy, cloudy weather set up these bass where I’ve never seen them before. We took water over the front of the boat but every minute was worth it to hit that 40lbs achievement! Fishing for bass using the technique of punching thick grass is an epic technique. High intensity one on one fishing combat! Probably one of my favorite fishing patterns, using heavy weights, big flipping stick fishing rods, and heavy braid makes for one of the best bites on Lake Okeechobee any time of the year. Catching well over 20lbs on a day that was truelly a grind!

Crazy square bill and jig fishing on a private Florida lake in the scorching summer sun! Charlie and I whack over 20lbs of Florida strain largemouth fishing mid depths on a sunny calm day out on the lake. Charlie told me there were giants in here and he was right! We only fished for 4 hours and caught some big fish even a 5lbs bass on while the drone was flying! It’s always fun hanging out with friends and hunting for big bass and that’s what happened today. We even found a sunken canoe with treasure bass on it! It’s always an adventure going out on Florida lakes with the potential for big bags – the week before Charlie caught 2 30lbs limits in one day! That’s insane, flat out!

Douchebags are real and in this video I ran inot a real one. Bass fishing is made worse by these kind of people adn fishing in general. Don’t be that guy. But in this case I won and found what he didn’t want me to find and scored a massive bag of largemouth bass because of it.

I go through and look at the colors and bait styles incorporated in the package. I also look at some of the fishing techniques and applications I use these types of baits for. I like JT Kenney and really agree with his fishing bait picks especially if you’re looking to simplify what kinds of plastics you have with you for fishing a range of lakes and bodies of water. These are the right colors and the right styles to do anything from fish shallow grass to targeting offshore bass.

Me and my boy Marc punched mats for bass. We found them super shalllow and flipped heavy cover with Gambler Craw Daddys. Focused on matted hydrilla with clearer water inside from the main lake. Seemed like fish were stacked up on a 50-60 yard stretch. Got a ton of bites and caught one 5lbs thunker.

I love punching, heavy cover and fishing Lake Okeechobee is such a great oppurtunity flip for bass and fish for bass anywhere that i turning the cameras on was not an opion

Within 3 days my little brother managed to catch his personal best bass and then break it with this 8lbs 15oz largemouth! What’s more is we caught back to back fish over 8lbs in 2 casts. This is one of those days when you know you have it dialed in. These bass were staging on a flat near a ledge and feeding up to spawn. There was a small group of fish but these were the biggest we caught. I was throwing a Sinking Bull Shad and my brother caught his trophy on a Gambler Lures JTK Hair Jig.
