There is only one lure you need to catch bass in spring and honestly the way it triggers fish it’s like cheating!!! The Ned Rig is one of the best fishing lures for a couple reasons – it catches small fish and giant bass but also any angler can fish it from a beginner to an expert angler. It’s a finesse style technique that catches all species of bass and especially in late spring fishing a Ned Rig is just like cheating because the fish can’t resist it! I rig my ned rig jig with a small soft plastic worm stickbait that I cut down – a Gambler Ace and it’s tough to beat a color like green pumpkin. Since the water was not super clear and we were fishing for smallmouth and largemouth bass I used some chartreuse dip on the tail as well.

It doesn’t matter where you’re fishing, googans exist everywhere. A reminder, what is a real googan – someone that doesn’t want to put the work in to find fish. So I’m out ledge fishing and I understand a lot of fishing holes are community spots but this guy pulled his boat up right next to mine and we even crossed fishing lines!!?! I don’t own the lake but I don’t think I would’ve done this to someone?

On a more fun subject we had a blast summer fishing using our electronics and noticing some bait fish to locate and dial in the bass. One thing I recommend is trying to fish during low light periods such as morning or sunset – it truly changes the way the fish behave and you will catch more fish.

Want to catch bass in the summer heat!!?!? In this vid we reveal summer fishing tips on Lake Guntersville for catching big bass in clear water out deep ledge fishing. We walk through step by step with tips and techniques as well of the ledge fishing process – how to find fish out deep using your contour map and sonar, what fish look like on the Lowrance HDS LIVE, and various techniques for catching bass in deeper clear water. Two main lures really showed off – a wobble head jig and a mag ned rig jig with a large stick bait. I’m all about revealing the real fishing process and showing what the pros don’t always want you to know and that’s what we do right here in regards to summer fishing and specifically ledge fishing for deep water big bass.

Should I be banned from fishing? I’m getting spoiled by mega bags bass fishing in Florida. We almost caught 40lbs fishing a crankbait and now we came out today and had to slow down and throw a neko rig and ned rig but still caught 5 fishing pushing 30lbs – absolute insane mega bag. It was an interesting example though of how you have to adapt daily to different fishing conditions and bass that are just in different feeding moods every time you go to the lake. The fish would not react to the crankbait like I wanted them too and I turned to fishing soft plastic worm rigs insanely slow over hard bottom like shell and sand. Another amazing day on the water in Florida!

On the search for monster bass we fished a school of giant fish with a super finesse ned rig on light line and caught some big fish but lost a huge bass. I actually had the fish in my hands when I dove down to try and grab it after it came off the hook! When I’m in Florida I love exploring the deeps for trophy bass and that’s exactly what we did. I used my HDS Live to locate some groups of fish in 20-30ft of water and was forced to use finesse techniques to get them to bite like a drop shot, neko rig, and mostly a ned rig. Our fishing road trip to Wisconsin has begun and it’s time to reveal one of the soft plastic worm rigs that no one talks about but used to catch me a ton of big bass. It’s a super simple diy rig or you can buy one pre rigged but in essence it’s a pre rigged straight tail plastic worm on a straight shank hook with a swivel. It’s best to use a 12-14lbs flourocarbon leader depending on how clear the water is as well as use braided fishing line behind it. When it comes to fishing rods throwing a medium action spinning rod about 7 foot seems to work best and really there’s no wrong way to work the fishing lure! Literally anyone can catch fish on this worm rig. One of the benefits as well is that it’s very easy to skip under docks or around cover and if you’re fishing really heavy vegetation you can always use a hook with a wire weed guard. A challenging but epic first day to the trip back to the old stomping grounds and the lakes and fisheries I grew up casting on. We’ll see if I learned anything while I was gone!!!
