In this video I catch a GIANT bass using a finesse fishing technique on a spinning rod – one crazy fight and teetered on the edge of scary! I was using a drop shot rig on a spinning or spin cast rod and reel with a small soft plastic worm (finesse).

In this video I show you my favorite place to fish for and catch PB bass – you really don’t need to fish anywhere else in Florida if you are trying to catch a trophy bass, it’s cheating!!! The Sebring and Highlands County lakes offer any angler the chance to use a ton of fishing techniques – from frog fishing, flipping and punching, to fishing ledges and offshore structure with crankbaits, spoons and jigs! In this video I teach you one of my favorite ways to catch bass in late summer and fall by using my HDS LIVE sonar to locate brushpiles and fish them with jigs, spoons, and hair jigs!
Whether you call them crawfish or crayfish bass love to to eat. Some of the best baits and fishing lures mimic these creatures and their darting action across rocks and sandy bottoms. On our road trip we fished Green Lake which is a renowned smallmouth fishery that also has some great laregmouth bass as well. One of the central baits that fish eat in this ultra clear lake is crawfish so along with trying to figure out a fishing pattern that works we play around with various fishing lures that imitate crawfish, what fishing rods, line etc to fish them on as well.
I got the most insane sight fishing bite fishing for bass in a tiny clear creek on Lake Lanier. It was unbelievable!!! Reeling in a Nichols Ned Rig Jig with a Gambler Ace I had two bass follow the bait all the way to the boat. I flipped the bait back out while looking at the fish and it bit!!! Absolutely insane!!! Probably the best sight fishing bites I have ever had. We caught some other spotted bass on a range of techniques from throwing Sebile swimbaits to casting micro swimbaits on ball jig heads. Lake Lanier is super clear and the creeks were no exceptions so using light line and more finesse fishing techniques was key.

You don’t expect to meet a celebrity when you go TROPHY bass fishing. BUT WE DID!!!! Guess who? And then I catch my biggest bass of 2019 – a PB throwing one of my favorite fishing rigs for bass, a Mag Ned Rig! We went to fish a private lake with my friend Charlie and I had one goal, catch a PB bass. After we met Lunker Louie – a master angler that catches giant bass on lakes like Istapoga. He’s a celebrity in bass fishing who has a ton of Trophy Catch Florida bass as well as appeared on shows like a Fishing Story.
2 techniques that we used to catch fish were a Mag Ned Rig – this time with a weedless jig and a stick bait. Charlie used a Hollow body swimbait on a lead head jig swimming it over the bottom and over lake structures in 10-14ft of water.

Is it worth it to buy the most expensive jerk bait fishing lure? The answer is yes. The Megabass Vision jerk baits are INSANE! On this clear water fishing trip to the lake I used them to target bass that were schooling on shad and suspending in ultra clear water and caught my biggest fish on the Vision 110! I throw it on a 7′ fishing rod with a moderate action made for crank bait fishing and use 12lbs flourocarbon fishing line. The lures are no doubt crazy expensive but imo totally worth it in the way they draw bites from fish that just don’t seem to be interested in any other fishing lure or jerk bait.
Funniest part of the day is I had to go on a polar swimming adventure because my bass boat drifted away from the boat ramp – water temp was a freezing winter 52!!!!! Always make sure you tie up your boat – don’t just rely on Power Poles!!!

I CAUGHT a NEW PB bass on Lake Okeechobee fishing with Lojo Fishing and Fishing with Norm! Tricked her with a Mag Ned Rig fishing for bass in a community area before a bass tournament. Totally INSANE the fish weighed in just over 10lbs+ and put on an EPIC fight dragging the boat and even forcing us to chase her with the trolling motor. Tricking a fish like that is not easy task too with all the pressure and pre tournament fishing going on so it was a cool experience to share with fellow YouTubers!
I have goosebumps from a totally unscheduled fishing stop on my road trip north at Kentucky Lake. Bank fishing for bass I managed to catch my PB spotted bass fishing a drop shot rig in a small bay right next to the dam. Headed on a road trip to my brother’s wedding and some epic smallmouth bass fishing in Michigan I just randomly stopped and got a hotel for the night down the road from Kentucky Lake, grabbed a fishing liscense, and went out OG style trying to catch my first Kentucky Lake bass – I would’ve never known it would be my PB!!! This is just the beginning of a road trip series chronicling my trip to search for my PB smallmouth bass with my buddy Benjamin Nowak. So stay tuned!
