We all have our confidence fishing lures but there is one way to rig and fish a plastic worm that by far is my FAVORITE!!! WACKY RIGGING is to bass what candy is to humans. I don’t know why but rigging a soft plastic worm like a stick bait or finesse worm wacky style just draws fish to bite – and not just little bass but big ones as well. It’s a subtle technique where the hook is placed through the middle of the worm to create a flexing type motion when twitched with the fishing rod. It’s not just a finesse fishing technique either, I wacky rig giant worms when Neko Rigging for trophy bass in Florida as well.

This was one crazy fishing find, you’ll never believe what was in her mouth when I caught this giant bass!!! We went out to do a tutorial on finding bass using your graph and made a clutch decision to chase giants bass. Talk about the right decision at the right time!!! We tested the VMC Tokyo Rig to see if it’s worth fishing as well as did what I think is a pretty epic DIY Mod for ultra finesse fishing. Overall I think it’s a pretty cool rig! The Tokyo Rig combines a hook and a wire leader with a swivel so that the plastic worm you add fishes above the bottom. With our DIY Mod we’ve taken the rig to a more finesse fishing level adding a small cirle hook or drop shot style hooks so we could nose hook small plastic finesse worms for fish under a lot of pressure in clear water situations. We used the lure on a school of pre spawn bass that have been hard to catch on more power fishing techniques.

I love to fish for bass on any lake with a gigantic crankbait. There’s a variety of fishing lures out there that dive deep and draw an epic reaction from fish when it goes by – and these things are pretty large, many weigh over 1 ounce. The trick is however you never know how a fishing lure will work until you actually get it out on the lake to fish for bass. We all have rigs and fishing lures that we believe in and and always have tied up. My confidence fishing rig shows off in this video – the Mag Ned Rig and the Neko Rig are standards whenever I get on the lake. I have caught a lot of big fish as well as numbers of bass fishing these rigs and that really leads me to having the confidence that I can get a bite on them on any body of water – lake, ultra clear water, river – even outside Florida. The are both especially good fishing techniques for winter fishing down here in Florida when pre spawn bass feed to move up to spawn.

If I had to pick one I would say the most hated rig in the bass fishing community overall is the Carolina Rig. I’ve run into more guys who recognize it’s value, the Carolina Rig’s ability to catch fish in a wide range of situations, but still flat out hate the setup with a vengeance. I too am one of those who is not a fan of the rig but knows it’s something you need to know how to use and throw if you want to be decent at bass fishing.

Threw some summer fishing tips down for you right here along with some horrible singing! LOL! it’s not always about huge bass, sometimes it’s about getting out and getting bit and especially during summer that hated rig can play in to your hand if you can find some mixing water or current to locate fish on structure, which is exactly what we did here.

Real fishing at it’s finest crushing post spawn bass out fishing a local lake! When the pieces come together during the post spawn bass fishing can be epic! They did today not getting a lot of bites but getting the right fish to eat the crankbait and, as you’ll see in part 2, the mag ned rig. All culminating in a 30+lbs megabag. The post spawn usually crushes anglers but it’s one of those bizarre times of year that can group fish up who really need to eat following the spawning period. Focusing on the 2 ends of the spectrum – reaction strike type baits and super slow dragging lures seems to be key this time of year in coaxing big bass to commit. Make sure to tune in for part 2 coming next week when we break a dirty 30 in the new boat for the first time!!!!!

Real Fishing, YouTube, grassroots bass anglers, weekend warriors – has the fishing industry got on board? Why does it seem that the industry HATES this class of anglers. I’ve been been shooting videos for years and it still seems to me like there is a disconnect even a hateful relationship between the fishing industry and those of us average people creating content, fishing the tackle and equipment, and creating an alternative media to the mainstream tournament scene that has been the industry tradition. Real fishing is happening every day – from a bank, from a boat, from a kayak – maybe the word hate is an overstatement but there’s definitely a sense that we’re looked down upon – even though what we’re doing is highlighting real fishing in real time. The Googan Squad and guys like Andrew Flair are perfect examples of this. He’s been able to tap into an audience of anglers that has been totally neglected by the fishing industry. Even now, that audience seems to be disregarded even though its obviously starving for real fishing content – as well as the fact that these are the anglers that will form the fishing scene 10 years from now!
