In this video I catch a GIANT bass using a finesse fishing technique on a spinning rod – one crazy fight and teetered on the edge of scary! I was using a drop shot rig on a spinning or spin cast rod and reel with a small soft plastic worm (finesse).
If you don’t do this with a chatterbait when fishing for bass, you might be missing out on catching fish. In this video we go over some chatterbait modifications, chatterbait tips, as well as some chatterbait techniques for catching bass in summer. We also talk about the best chatterbait trailers for fishing bladed jigs around cover and why this lure is probably the most important fishing lure of the last 15 years.
I caught my PB bass of a lifetime – a 13+ huge fish on a crankbait fishing pre spawn bass in clear water. It was an awesome life experience to capture on camera and be able to share on the YouTube channel – epic and unbelievable!!!

It doesn’t matter where you’re fishing, googans exist everywhere. A reminder, what is a real googan – someone that doesn’t want to put the work in to find fish. So I’m out ledge fishing and I understand a lot of fishing holes are community spots but this guy pulled his boat up right next to mine and we even crossed fishing lines!!?! I don’t own the lake but I don’t think I would’ve done this to someone?
On a more fun subject we had a blast summer fishing using our electronics and noticing some bait fish to locate and dial in the bass. One thing I recommend is trying to fish during low light periods such as morning or sunset – it truly changes the way the fish behave and you will catch more fish.

Fishing for bass is never the same even if you go to the same lake. I’ve found on this new adventure that these fish can deceive you a bit especially since I don’t have a history of patterns, techniques, and tunnel vision on what parts of the lake are best at certain times. I’m starting to figure it out though and one thing I’ve found is during the summer these bass will deceive you and mix with other fish species in large schools giving the impression that what you’re seeing on your Lowrance isn’t bass….but it actually is, just not totally bass.
We went to Lake Guntersville to go fishing and stopped at GTO and Paul the owner revealed to us the most realistic fishing lure I have ever seen! It is a jig angler’s dream when it comes to crawfish!!! Paul also gave us a winter fishing report of the lake and recommended some fishing lures and baits including Alabama Rigs, jigs, and swimbaits to use to catch big bass in cold water. We went out fishing and used some of Paul’s tips but ended up having to get insanely finesse to catch fish using a Mega Bass Vision 110 jerkbait around points and in creek pockets where we found bait balls and shad.
On the search for monster bass we fished a school of giant fish with a super finesse ned rig on light line and caught some big fish but lost a huge bass. I actually had the fish in my hands when I dove down to try and grab it after it came off the hook! When I’m in Florida I love exploring the deeps for trophy bass and that’s exactly what we did. I used my HDS Live to locate some groups of fish in 20-30ft of water and was forced to use finesse techniques to get them to bite like a drop shot, neko rig, and mostly a ned rig. What fishing lures, fishing rods, and equipment was I using?
